Why have a

Tummy
Tuck

Abdominoplasty, also called Tummy Tuck, is designed to help you get rid of that extra fat and sagging skin on your stomach. The best candidates for this surgery are those who have been able to maintain their weight but still feel self-conscious about the way they look in clothes because of an accumulation of excess skin or some pesky pockets from where there was once body fat.

Benefits of a

Tummy Tuck

The tummy tuck procedure has helped many people with the saggy and loose skin that comes after major weight loss or pregnancy to reconstruct their abdominal muscles. This is a great way for a person to achieve a tight, reshaped figure in order to make them feel confident again about themselves inside and out which cannot be done otherwise through dieting and exercising.

Surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure, using general anesthesia or intravenous sedation and local anesthesia. It is typical for a portion of the injected fat not to “take” in its new location an experienced cosmetic surgeon will take this into account and may initially inject a slightly greater amount of fat into the buttocks that is needed to ensure your final results most closely achieve your goals.

Am I a good candidate

for this procedure?

The best candidates for the surgery are patients who have lost a lot of weight and take pretty good care of themselves. They also should be relatively fit with extra skin in that area below their belly button, which will allow doctors to pull up excess skin during the procedure.

The best candidates for abdominoplasty are those who have had a previous pregnancy and are done having children. When they lose the weight from their post-pregnancy body, some skin comes back but there is still an area under your belly button that will not go away or tighten up by itself. There’s also another kind of candidate: people who were once overweight and lost significant amounts of weight through gastric bypass surgery or exercise/dieting alone (or both).

Some people think that the tummy tuck is just a way to get rid of belly fat, but that is just a misconception, as this surgery is really more about skin than it is about fat.

Regarding the belly button, doctors will often leave the original belly button in place, but make a new incision to allow it to poke out. They do this so patients can keep their own unique identifier, but it always depends on each patient’s circumstances.

What are the

postoperative recovery terms?

Each patient’s Tummy Tuck operation is different, but most patients need a lot of dressings and compression garments. Patients are also given an abdominal binder to help with healing. It’s all about giving the skin time to heal in the best way possible.

When a patient has surgery, they may be prone to accumulating fluid in the area of their incision. Some doctors use drains to help relieve these excess fluids and keep patients from experiencing any pain or discomfort as they heal. Approximately two weeks is when most patients will have experienced enough healing so that they can return back to work; however, some people might need less time while others require more than 2 weeks before feeling comfortable getting back up to their normal activities.

Doctors recommend that patients start physical activity or go to the gym again after six weeks, but by then most people have recovered from their surgery and are feeling better.
