Tummy Tuck surgery usually lasts about three hours. There are some variations from patient to patient, depending on their size and what they’re looking for since the surgery is tailored individually.
Doctors will often leave the original belly button in place, but make a new incision to allow it to poke out. They do this so patients can keep their own unique identifier, but it always depends on each patient’s condition.
After a tummy tuck, the scars left behind are usually minimal and will fade with time as long as patients are diligent about their post-op care. But not every patient heals in the same way. If made by an expert surgeon, though, then they may be worth it because of how much better shaped your body is afterward.

Liposuction and tummy tucks are two of the most common procedures performed on a person’s midsection. Lipo removes excess fat cells from your body by sucking them out through small incisions in the abdomen; this leaves less chance for visible scarring post-procedure than with traditional surgical methods like abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

Tummy tucks tighten up skin that has become loose after weight loss or pregnancy, but it is important to note they do not remove any abdominal muscles.

Both types of surgeries reduce waist size and improve abdominal appearance, but there are a few important differences between the two. Liposuction is less invasive than tummy tuck; it requires minimum access to the body for the procedure. Tummy tucks require a general anesthetic and surgeons have to cut through the skin on your abdomen before removing excess tissue, after taking out the extra skin. If patients lost weight considerably then they may be more pleased with their results after a Tummy Tuck.

A tummy tuck has no effect on your ovaries or uterus, which means you can still get pregnant just as easily after surgery. Doctors recommend waiting to have the surgery until having all planned children so that the results of the procedure are not ruined by pregnancy-related weight gain and stretch marks from giving birth. In the same line, a person who lost weight dramatically should be stabilized in their current weight so the surgery may not be affected by weight fluctuations.

Stretch marks are a result of rapid growth, and they are an unfortunate side effect for many people that gained weight in a short period of time. They can form around the abdomen, hips, or thighs as skin tears deep at its surface due to stretching over a bigger area.

Though it may be difficult to successfully remove them all from these areas (most often below your belly button), there is always room for improvement through surgery like tummy tucks that cut away extra skin. However, it is important to understand that only stretchmarks on excised tissue will disappear with this type of surgery.
